to my FreeDOS Floppy Disk Distribution!
I created these floppies to support
old PCs without a CD-ROM drive or not able to boot from CD.
These floppies bring a very basic, but yet a full DOS system
to use "live" or install to your computer.
For
space reasons, a lot of stuff was removed from packages. It is
available as separate download, see "sources+DOC" in
downloads.
It should work on any PC-compatible 8086/8088 or newer.
If you have a 286 or later, there are high-memory drivers and
the base-disk may be unpacked to a ramdisk.
If you
run this on a real computer and you get into trouble or
something is not working, feel free to contact me via e-mail
<stecdose@gmail.com>. Also if everything runs fine, I
appreciate a short notice with a summary of your system (CPU,
RAM, board/laptop/..., etc...).
If you
want to install the official FreeDOS distribution to a system,
that can't boot the CD, but has a CD-drive, it may be possible
by using the official FreeDOS boot floppy or "PLoP
bootmanager".
